Jeremy Beadle dies of Pneumonia
JEREMY Beadle was the man behind a million pranks.
And last night he was hailed as telly’s “ultimate joker”.

The tribute came from ITV’s entertainment chief Paul Jackson soon after the Beadle’s About and You’ve Been Framed favourite died of pneumonia, aged 59.
Mr Jackson said: “We are incredibly saddened and our sympathy goes out to Jeremy’s family.
“He entertained a whole generation of viewers – he was the ultimate joker and consummate prankster.”
Away from the screen bearded Jeremy, who earlier fought kidney cancer and leukaemia, was a tireless charity fund-raiser.

He is believed to have raked in more than £100MILLION for Children With Leukaemia and a host of other good causes. And he was made an MBE seven years ago.
Jeremy, who shot to fame as co-host of 1980s hidden camera show Game For A Laugh, was admitted to a North London hospital last week.

He slipped into a coma – and died with wife Sue, 60, and close friends at his bedside. He also leaves daughters Cassie, 21, and Bonnie, 19, and stepchildren Leo, 34, and Claire, 32.
The quick-witted star – a former taxi driver, tour guide and journalist – hosted Beadle’s About from 1987-96. He became the original presenter of video clip show You’ve Been Framed in 1990 before handing over to Lisa Riley seven years later.
Both shows regularly pulled bumper audiences of 15million on Saturday evenings. And Beadle’s About, in which members of the public fell victim to hilarious practical jokes, threw up many classic scenes that have gone down in TV comedy history

Cheryl Hasn’t Eaten for a Week

HEARTBROKEN CHERYL COLE has not eaten for a WEEK since The Sun revealed her husband ASHLEY cheated on her.

Friends and family were last night deeply concerned for the health of the Girls Aloud star, who was said to be “close to collapse” and suffering dizzy spells.
Cheryl, 24, discovered last Thursday night that Chelsea and England defender Ashley, 27, had played away from home with hairdresser AIMEE WALTON, 22.
The trauma of her marriage meltdown has left Cheryl unable to eat a thing, and she is now losing weight because she can only stomach fluids.
A source close to the Geordie singer said last night: “Everyone is really worried about Cheryl.

“She didn’t eat for a couple of days and everyone close to her understood because she was so upset.
“But time has dragged on and she has now gone the best part of a week without a proper meal.
“She was already incredibly thin because she had been working out for the Girls Aloud video.
“But she just doesn’t have the frame to cope with losing any more weight.
“She can’t force food down because she is still in shock. She’s been having dizzy spells and is close to collapse. It’s really worrying.”

Cheryl moved out of the marital home in Oxshott, Surrey, on Tuesday to spend time at a secret location thinking about her future.

Gladiators is Back!!

Time to stock up on the protein shakes - Gladiators is back.
Members of the public are being challenged to battle a new team of TV warriors as the hit combat show is re-launched on Sky.
It comes eight years after the original was axed by ITV bosses.
Footie legend Ian Wright is tipped to host the revamped new version, which will get a prime-time Saturday night slot.
Referee John Anderson - the man behind the legendary “Gladiators ready” shout - is in talks to return.

And producers are on the hunt for 12 new Gladiators to replace old favourites including Amazon, Cobra and Wolf.
Last night an insider said: “Gladiators always got stick for being naff but the reality is people liked it. Obviously, some of the challenges they used to do were a bit tame, so it will be given a 21st Century makeover.

“A new batch of Gladiators is being sought, and hopefully, they will be every bit as colourful as the original bunch. The contests will also be much more exciting and dangerous.”
The new obstacle course-style challenges will include water and fire-based contests, and will run alongside old favourites such as the Eliminator.

Auditions for competitors to take on the Gladiators will be held across the country from next month. The show will be filmed in a new London studio.
Sky boss Richard Woolfe said: “Just like the revival of Take That and the Spice Girls, the return of this David-and-Goliath contest will be unmissable.” The re-launch

Hulk's Divorce turns Nasty

IT'S something no wrestling programme or reality TV show could come up with.
Hulk Hogan's divorce from wife Linda has taken a very bitter turn, as she has asked a judge to freeze his bank accounts and accused him of fooling her.
US gossip website Perez Hilton reported: "Linda doesn't want the former wrestler spending any of the money they got from the $10 million (£5 million) sale of their home.
"But that's just the tip of the iceberg!
"Linda is accusing Hulk of trying to trick her into signing a post-nuptial agreement and other 'legal shenanigans'."
Linda filed for divorce in November and wants half of wrestling legend Hulk's assets.

5 Convicted of Biggest Cash Heist

Five men face long prison terms when they are sentenced today for staging Britain’s biggest robbery, but almost £32 million of their haul is now beyond the reach of the law in northern Cyprus.
Much of the cash is believed to have been smuggled to the fugitive’s paradise where Sean Lupton — who slipped through the fingers of police investigating the raid — is also thought to be in hiding.
The five were convicted of kidnap, robbery and firearms offences at the Old Bailey yesterday in connection with the 2006 robbery of £53 million from the Securitas depot in Tonbridge, Kent. The gang kidnapped the depot manager, his wife and their young child and used them to gain entry. Only £21 million has so far been recovered.
Key figures involved in the heist are thought to have escaped to the Mediterranean, North Africa and the West Indies. The “Mr Bigs” behind the raid — two men heavily involved in martial arts — have been traced to Morocco.
A 33 year old woman is now living in hiding after providing evidence which was instrumental in the conviction of the 5 suspects. Michelle Hogg, who created the disguises for the heist, is hauled up in a secret location amid fears that there is a price on her head to silence her.

Britney Sees a Psychiatrist

BRITNEY SPEARS is being treated by a psychiatrist for “mental issues”.
The singer’s friend and self-proclaimed manager SAM LUTFI asked top US telly host BARBARA WALTERS to break the news yesterday.
The 78-year-old presenter said: “Britney, I assume, is starting some kind of treatment.
“Sam got in touch with us. I can't vouch for this. He said that Britney is suffering from what he described as mental issues which are treatable.”

Twins fo Angelina
Reports in the Sun over the weekend have suggested that Angelina Jolie is pregnant with twins. Bebo Teen Suicide Strikes Again!

Yet another Teenager was found close to death after attempting to commit suicide in the Welsh town of Bridgend. If it wasn’t for her step father giving her the kiss of life, Leah Phillips (15) would have been the 8th teen to have died in the town within the last year, after a series of copycat killings. All the victims are all friends on the social networking site Bebo, sparking fears that there is some form of suicide pact among the youngsters. Leah’s classmates haves sort help from teachers and councillors after the news of her attempted suicide claiming to be in shock by their friends actions.

There has been 13 suicides in the Welsh town in the last year, but only seven have been identified in the suicide past fear, as the others weren’t known to each other. The recent fatalities are giving Bridgend one of the highest suicide rates in Britain, and all parents are being asked to monitor their children.

The BBC to Launch Child's Facebook

The BBC is launching a “Facebook for kids” – a safe social networking site that aims to push its public service credentials on the web harder than ever.
MyCBBC is targeting the gap left by other front running social network sites like Facebook, Myspace and Bebo who all aim their sites at teens above the age of 13, as they don’t want the responsibility of younger users. Which is something, the BBC argues, only a public broadcaster can cater for.
The site is costing the Beeb hundreds of thousands of pounds and is due to be piloted amongst 1,000 children next month, with the final product being available via the BBC website in April.

Users will be able to design online “dens” to reflect their own personality and interests, and will only be able to send messages via a pallet of pre-determined symbols and phrases, the only way of sending private messages to one another will be if they have already exchanged emails address in real life. This makes it impossible for children to make unscripted contact with strangers, preventing them from inadvertently revealing details which could be picked up by online predators.

Ledger's Cocaine Binges
HOLLYWOOD star HEATH LEDGER went on cocaine and ecstasy binges with model NAOMI CAMPBELL, it emerged last night.

The 28-year-old was found dead in his New York apartment on Tuesday. He was naked, face down and surrounded by bottles of anti-anxiety drugs and sleeping pills.
At least three of drugs were prescribed in Europe. And it is believed Ledger picked them up in London where he was filming last weekend.

Ledger’s close friend Shekhar Kapur probably heard his last words. In a phone call with the movie director he asked him: “Wake me up.”
Kapur explained: “I last spoke to him the night before he died. He said he could not see me that night but really wanted to meet me the next day. He made me promise I would call him in the morning and wake him. I tried but didn’t get any response.”

Heath Ledger Dies at 28

Aussie actor and star of Brokeback Mountain Heath Ledger was found dead at his New York Apartment yesterday. Ledger, 28 was discovered by his house keeper lying naked face down on the bed surrounded by pills. The star, who was nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars for his role in the gay cowboy flick, was pronounced dead at around 3.26pm after a suspected drug overdose.

Ledger who leaves behind a daughter is due to be hitting the big screens shortly in his role as the Joker in the latest Batman sequel ‘The Dark Knight’, and was in London last week to film Terry Gilliam’s adventure fantasy ‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’. His parents are said to be devastated with the news of their son’s death, which they were informed about via the news.

AMY WINEHOUSE’s heartbroken dad last night claimed that The Sun’s shocking video could convince the singer to quit drugs for GOOD.

The singer, 22, will record BBC3’s Lily Allen And Friends on Wednesday.

Plane Crash Drama at Heathrow

A ONE-in-a-million computer glitch was last night being blamed for the terrifying jet-crash drama at Heathrow.
The pilot of the British Airways flight - Peter Burkill, 44 - was hailed a hero after his Boeing 777 lost all power as it hurtled towards a runway at 160mph.

The stricken aircraft, flight BA038 from Beijing, China, belly-flopped on a grassy airport strip - 600 yards short of the tarmac and only 100 yards inside the perimeter fence.
Onlookers said the undercarriage was ripped off as the captain wrestled the plane down - passing just feet above nearby houses and scaring drivers on the busy A4 below.
All 136 passengers and 16 crew escaped. But experts last night said it was a “miracle” that not many had been killed

Insiders said inquiries were focusing on an unexplained “involuntary flight control command” initiated by the jet’s computer.
The on-board system is thought to have pulled the plane’s nose skywards as it began its descent.
At the same time, it is said to have throttled BACK the engines.
Only one other similar fault has ever been recorded - and resulted in a multiple-death crash 15 years ago.
A crash probe source said last night: “The pilot was taken totally by surprise when the plane’s nose suddenly lifted as it came in to land.
“He managed to send out a Mayday just three seconds before the impact and was still wrestling with the controls when it hit the deck.

Atonement Set for Bafta Glory

AFTER its success at America’s Golden Globes, KEIRA KNIGHTLEY'S Atonement is also leading the way in the Bafta nominations.

£5m Compensation for Leslie Ash
TELLY actress Leslie Ash was “delighted” last night after winning a massive £5million compensation for catching MRSA in hospital.
Her claim had been due to go to trial in April, and lawyers said the former Men Behaving Badly star was thankful to have avoided a gruelling court case.
The record payout is also set to open the floodgates to a wave of claims against the NHS by other MRSA victims.
Leslie’s solicitor Janice Gardner, of Russell-Cooke, said the payout would arrive in a month. Ms Gardner added: “She is delighted that we could reach an amicable settlement.
“Nobody really wants to go to court. It would have been hard going for her.
“In a case when you have got serious injuries you have to be reasonably satisfied that the injuries have settled before you can settle the claim.”

The settlement was based on the highly-paid star’s loss of earnings, and legal experts warned that other patients could expect much smaller payouts – even if they win their cases.
Leslie, 47, was left in permanent pain and has to walk with a stick after catching MSSA – a variant of the better known MRSA – at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in central London.
She was taken to the hospital in April 2004 for treatment to a punctured lung and two cracked ribs after falling on to a table during a sex session with her husband, ex-footballer Lee Chapman

Second Girl Taken in Maddie Style Kidnap

GERRY and Kate McCann told of their “extreme concern” last night after a Spanish girl vanished in circumstances similar to their daughter Maddie.
Mari Luz Cortes, five, disappeared on Sunday after going out to buy crisps at a local shop.
She lives in Huelva, Spain – just a 90-minute drive from Portugal’s Praia da Luz where Maddie went missing.
Cops in both countries are to discuss similarities between the cases.
Both girls – almost the same age – vanished with no witnesses. And both their parents had left them unattended.

Brits Storm the Golden Globes

ATONEMENT led the way on a good night for Britain at a toned-down Golden Globes ceremony in Los Angeles.
The film, based on Ian McEwan's novel and starring Brits Keira Knightley and James McAvoy, picked up the Best Motion Picture gong.
But the Hollywood glitz was missing as the usually-lavish awards ceremony was replaced with a televised news conference because of the continued writers' strike.
Brit Julie Christie won Best Actress in a Dramatic Role for Away From Her, while Jim Broadbent also won for his performance as human rights campaigner Lord Longford, in Longford.
Daniel Day Lewis won Best Actor for There Will Be Blood.

SAD druggie BRITNEY SPEARS sang her own songs to herself in an empty bar, The Sun can reveal.
Staff at the Rosarito Beach Hotel in Mexico said Britney, 26, appeared to be “high” during her stay with British lover ADNAN GHALIB.
Reception manager Gustavo Lopez, 38, said: “One of our waitresses spotted Britney singing to herself in the bar.
“She heard her mumbling the words to Toxic in a very low voice. It was a strange thing to do and my waitress said she looked out of it.

“The hotel is virtually deserted at this time of year and Britney was all alone in the bar singing to herself. I don’t think she knew where she was.
“My barman said she looked like she was on drugs and was slurring her words. When I first saw her check in, she looked like she was drunk.”


The singer was also accused of trashing her room at the hotel, despite only staying for seven hours.
Manager Gustavo said: “The maid told me she’d never seen anything like it. There was rubbish everywhere — it looked like a bomb hit it.”

According to a report in the Daily Star Big Brother bosses are not going to be making another celebrity big brother. The decision has come after the recent Celebrity Big Brother Hijacked has proved to be a ratings flop, throwing the whole show format into crisis. The bosses have decided to concentrate on the non celeb summer version of the show in order to make it bigger and better than ever. The CBB format was seriously damaged by the racism row of the previous series, and bosses have been increasingly disappointed by viewing figures of the new spin off Hijacked. The shows bosses believe it would be difficult to attract celebs after everything that has happened on the show in the past, and so are adopting a back to basics approach by concentrating on their summer show.

KANYE WEST has landed the biggest slot of the summer festivals — headlining Glastonbury.

TV Cop Suicide Bid

VETERAN telly cop Jeff Stewart slashed his wrists on the set of The Bill last night — minutes after being sacked.
Jeff, 52, who has played PC Reg Hollis since 1984, was rushed to hospital after security men raised the alarm at the studios in Merton, South London.
Jeff had been suspended just before Christmas after a furious outburst on the set.
Yesterday he was told his contract on the ITV1 show — in which he was the only original 1984 cast member left — was not being renewed.
Distraught Jeff returned to his dressing room at around 6.30pm and cut his wrists.
He then dialled out of the room and begged for help — sending security at the studios in Merton, South London, racing to help him and calling an ambulance.
The actor was taken to St George’s Hospital in nearby Tooting, where he remained under observation last night.

Last night a source on the ITV1 cop show said: “This was a desperate cry for help. It’s extremely sad. He is in hospital and is being cared for.”
Jeff was devastated by the suspension, but an insider said: “He was totally out of line. Directors are used to getting grief from actors but this went way too far.
“Bosses decided he should be suspended for a week to give him time to calm down.”
Jeff has struggled since suffering an emotional breakdown in 2006, when he collapsed and was taken to hospital.

Robbie to Quit Touring?
