POTTY PETE DOHERTY has become obsessed with Scientology after a lover introduced him to the crazy cult, The Sun can reveal.
The junkie rocker is hooked on the barmy religion which believes humans are an exiled race from outer space.
Babyshambles frontman Pete, 29 — who once dated supermodel KATE MOSS — has bought a pile of books on the subject since meeting Scientologist DJ NADINE RUDDY.
And he has been leaving his Wiltshire mansion to stay at her home in Reading, Berks, at least once a week.
A source said: “Nadine is really into Scientology. She takes her beliefs very seriously.
“Pete’s chatted a lot with her about it. He went out and bought some books to read up about it.
“He just wanted to find out more about Nadine and what she believes in.”
The Church of Scientology was invented by sci-fi writer L Ron Hubbard in 1951 and boasts stars TOM CRUISE and JOHN TRAVOLTA among its followers.
It teaches that women should remain silent during childbirth because the noise evokes bad memories as the child grows up.
Mums are also not allowed to take any painkillers during labour and the baby is not washed for 24 days.
Nadine tells on her MySpace profile how she has adopted the religion.
She also reveals she likes tattoos and claims her favourite book is the dictionary.

Pals' shock at pregnant man

PALS of “pregnant man” Thomas Beatie last night told of their shock.

Beatie, 34, who yesterday released a pic of his five-months-pregnant belly, has gone into hiding. It is rumoured he and wife Nancy have sold their story to TV chat host Oprah Winfrey.

A British-born neighbour who is looking after their home in Bend, Oregon, while they are away said: “They’ve struck a big deal with someone. When they come back all will be revealed. This is 1,000 per cent true.” Relative Rena Keeley added: “I believe it’s true. We’ve been told not to say anything.” Thomas revealed his wife’s family are in for a shock because they have no idea he was born female.

Before undergoing his sex change, Thomas was a lesbian called Tracy LaGondino. The transsexual kept his female organs after the sex change.

Flop Star Peaches

Peaches Geldof sang and played bass with supertrendy group Rodnik at at The Hospital on Tuesday night and went down like a sack of spuds by all accounts. During the three-song set, Peaches attempted - unsuccessfully - to smash a keyboard at the set's conclusion in a choreographed display of stage anarchy. But she almost failed to make it on stage at all after throwing a diva tantrum moments before she was due to perform.

It took organisers more than an hour to persuade to her to sing after she took fright at the sight of photographers and the size of the audience. Once on stage, Peaches dropped the microphone and forgot some lyrics before she headed for the exit door. Even her ex Fred Les couldn't bear the noise and walked out, and was overheard saying, 'it's one of the worst performances I've ever seen' and other guests were heard shouting 'we love The Cure! What is this?'.

Kate Moss: I'm getting married

SMITTEN KATE MOSS enjoyed a romantic break in Amsterdam — then blurted out: “I’m getting married.”
The grinning supermodel emerged from a bar to tell Dutch fans of her plans to wed THE KILLS guitarist JAMIE HINCE.
One onlooker in the cannabis mecca said: “The pair were in a bar looking very loved-up. Kate was so excited it looked like she had just accepted his proposal there and then. She was very happy.
“She came out giggling and seemed a little bit tipsy. Lots of fans were taking her picture on their mobile phones. She told them, ‘I’m getting married.’ One girl asked her when, and she said, ‘Soon’.”

Pals say Kate, 34, has been all over 39-year-old rocker Jamie during their Amsterdam stay.
His band played a show there on Saturday and then the couple had time to enjoy the city’s famous sights before moving on to Brussels on Monday.
They have been dating since last summer — a few months after Kate finally split for good from junkie singer PETE DOHERTY, 29.
A friend of the Croydon-born model revealed: “We’re all so happy for Kate. Everyone was worried she would end up with Pete, who we thought was no good for her.
“We were convinced that, for some unknown reason, she saw him as the love of her life.
“Jamie looked like it could have been a bit of a rebound thing at first, but now it seems like it’s the real deal.”

Wayne's EuRoo millions wedding

Wayne and his fiancée COLEEN McLOUGHLIN have plumped for a four-day wedding extravaganza in the South of France costing an incredible £3MILLION.
Just 60 family and friends will watch them take their vows on the Côte D’Azur — with private jets ferrying the wedding party across the Channel on June 10.
Coleen chose the venue after months of agonising between Italy and France.
But the actual site remains top secret — the only people who know are the bride and groom, immediate family, oh, and a Manchester-based events company.
Guests, who include boxer RICKY HATTON and a handful of Man United players and their partners, have been told to clear their diaries from June 10 to June 14.
It is believed the wedding itself will take place on June 12 — but guests won’t know until the last minute.
The pre-wedding celebrations will kick off earlier in the weekend with a themed ball, with guests invited to wear black or white outfits.
And over the next three days Wayne and Coleen will also treat their family and friends to a champagne lunch and play hosts at a BBQ.
Last night a source close to the couple said: “Coleen wanted to spread the event over a few days because people are travelling so far.
”You can virtually guarantee the weather at that time of the year so they’ve gone for lots of outdoor celebrations. Coleen and Wayne take regular holidays in the area, so they’re very familiar with the place.”
Coleen will wear a £100,000 gown by New York fashion house Marchesa.
The wedding costs will partly be covered by Wayne and Coleen’s £2.5million deal with a glossy mag for exclusive coverage of the nuptials — though a chunk of that cash is being given to a Liverpool charity.

The Bill wins soap award battle

The Bill has come out top in the battle of the soaps at the Royal Television Society Awards. The ITV1 show beat off competition from Coronation Street and Holby City in the soap and continuing drama category.
BBC Three's The Mighty Boosh won best sitcom, with BBC Two quiz show QI, presented by Stephen Fry, winning the entertainment award.
Speaking after the awards, Noel Fielding, who plays Vince Noir in The Mighty Boosh, told BBC News: "It's taken about 10 years for people to get their heads around it, which we knew would happen, so it's a slow build. Its like building a watch, an elaborate sort of intricate watch, but we've done it now and they can tell the time."

Other comedy winners were duo David Mitchell and Robert Webb, who picked up the comedy performance award for Channel 4's Peep Show. Harry Hill picked up best entertainment performance for TV Burp, in which he pokes fun at the week's most bizarre TV clips. The judges described Hill as someone who had moved his ITV1 show "from the edge to the heart of the schedule".

BBC Two car show Top Gear won the features and lifestyle series award, with presenters James May and Richard Hammond picking up the award without frontman Jeremy Clarkson. "Actually Hammond and I were only here because we were told to be," said May.

Wildlife presenter Sir David Attenborough, meanwhile, picked up the lifetime achievement award.
Accepting his award in a pre-recorded video clip, Sir David said: "When I joined the BBC 56 years ago, there was only one professional television organisation in this country, I imagine in the world, and that of course was this one.

Strictly Come Dancing, The Apprentice and Britain's Got Talent are among the other series up for the audience award, with the winner chosen by the public. Express newspapers apologise to parents of Madeleine McCann

The Daily Express and the Daily Star issued front-page apologies to the parents of Madeleine McCann this morning, having agreed to pay "substantial" damages for almost a year of lurid headlines relating to the four-year-old's disappearance.
The papers' Sunday sister titles will follow suit, in what was described last night as an "unprecedented" climb-down by the Express newspaper group owned by Richard Desmond.
Lawyers are set to appear at the High Court today to read out apologies from the papers, whose payout will go towards the Find Madeleine Fund in what is the culmination of a behind-the-scenes libel challenge from Mr and Mrs McCann.
Today's apologies – both headlined simply "Kate and Gerry McCann: Sorry" – follow a decision by the newspaper group to remove all references to girl's disappearance from its websites after the McCanns challenged what their spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, described as "wildly and grossly defamatory articles".
The couple has identified more than 100 such articles written since their daughter went missing from the Praia da Luz holiday resort in the Algarve on 4 May last year, 42 of which were in the Daily Express.

£24 million divorce deal ended with a soaking

FURIOUS Heather Mills tipped a glass of water over Sir Paul McCartney’s solicitor yesterday as her divorce deal was sealed.
Heather was said to have lashed out after a court awarded her £24.3million of her ex-hubby’s fortune.
The amount was far less than the £125million she wanted.
And as the hearing ended, witnesses said Heather calmly picked up the water and soaked lawyer Fiona Shackleton.
The brief had arrived at London’s High Court with a neat bouffant at 10.15am. She left looking bedraggled at 1.50pm.
Heather, 40, last night refused to admit pouring the water, which judge Mr Justice Bennett could have viewed as contempt.
But she laughingly boasted that Ms Shackleton, 51, had been “baptised in court” — and a source confirmed to The Sun that she was behind the attack.
A witness said: “Heather tipped the water over Fiona’s head.
Heather — mum to 65-year-old Macca’s daughter Beatrice, four — went on to slam the blonde solicitor in a bizarre statement on the steps of the court.
She said: “Fiona Shackleton has very sadly handled this case in the worst manner you can ever, ever imagine.”
She also revealed Paul had previously offered her a total of only £15.8million, and last night she walked out of court with an additional £9 million. Paul is also due to pay £35,000 a year in up-keep for their 4 year old daughter Beatrice.

£5 million to teach dancing in schools ‘a step too far’?

A controversial £5.5 million scheme has been proposed to promote dance in schools – and was dismissed last night by critics branding the idea a waste of money, saying the cash should be better spent on school books and teachers pay.
The government’s Strictly Youth Dancing Scheme will put specialist dance teachers in schools and establish six centres of advanced training by 2011. A review for the government recommended that every school in England should have a dance teacher and that pupils should have more opportunity to see live dance performances.
The success of films such as Billy Elliot, shows such as Strictly Come Dancing, and stars such as Darcey Bussell have boosted interest in dance and appear directly linked to the new government scheme. More than 15,000 children are now taking a dance GCSE, which is an 83% increase over four years.

Yobs trashed house after DJ’s shout

The owner of £3million house is demanding an apology from Pete Tong and compensation after 2,000 gatecrashers trashed the property when he publicised a party on his radio show.
Rebecca Brooks is furious after the DJ put a 'shout out' on Radio One for a private 18th birthday party for daughter Sarah Ruscoe.
Hundreds of teenagers descended on the listed building, causing a 5km traffic tailback. They smashed windows, doors and paintings and caused damage outside.
Police eventually used dogs to force the uninvited revellers away from Colehayes Park. Mrs Brooks said: 'I was flabbergasted and astonished that the BBC could be so irresponsible.
'I was aghast at Pete Tong. This was supposed to be a party for my daughter's schoolfriends and it should not have been announced on Radio One.' She said of the damage: 'I can only liken it to a rock festival.'
The BBC said Tong did not specify the address of the venue of the party in Bovey Tracey, Devon, and that information about it was sent in by a listener to be one of his 'shout outs'.
The corporation added: 'He would never knowingly give an identifiable address for a private party.'

“I'll tear up your ticket for sex”

A TRAFFIC warden told a shocked woman he’d rip up her parking ticket — if she performed a sex act on him. He offered the vile “deal” after slapping the fine on Gemma Patten’s windscreen. Distraught Gemma, 22, got in her VW Polo and locked all the doors. She said: “I was disgusted. He’s clearly a sicko and shouldn’t be working in such a position of authority.”

Gemma was confronted by the warden, in his 40s, as she tried to pay at a meter at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, Central London. She asked for his help but he said it was too late and fined her. Gemma said: “I was angry that he hadn’t even bothered to listen to me and told him I was going to appeal. “I got in the car and he came to my window and said, “Well I wouldn’t mind swapping a bonus for a bonus’. “I said to him, ‘What do you mean?’ and he said, ‘You know what I mean. If you give me a b*** j** I’ll get rid of that ticket. It’s that simple’.
Student Gemma has phoned and written to Westminster City Council to complain about the warden. His ID was on the ticket so it’s not going to take a genius to track him down.

£6,000 engagement ring blown away

A hopeless romantic saw his engagement plans vanish into thin air – after a balloon containing a £6,000 diamond ring was blown away.

Luckless Lefkos Hajji wanted to surprise his girlfriend Leeanne, so he told a florist to put the sparkler inside a helium balloon. But as he left the florist shop a gust pulled it from his hand and the balloon soared into the sky. The floor fitter then spent two hours chasing the ballooin in his car – but eventually gave up hope.

Lefkos, of Hackney, said: “I had been planning the proposal for ages. I thought I would give Leeanne a pin so I could literally pop the question. But I had to tell her the story – she went absolutely mad. Now she’s refusing to speak to me until I get her a new ring.”

Lefkos commented: “I couldn’t believe it. I just watched as it went further and further into the air. I felt like such a plonker.”

Lefkos is hoping that someone will find the balloon and return the ring to its rightful owner.

Don’t drink OR drive

Alistair Darling hit drinkers for six yesterday – hiking up alcohol prices in his first penny-pinching budget, and car drivers with car tax hikes.

6% above inflation was placed on drinks, putting a pint up by 4p, wine up 14p a bottle, and bottled spirits up 55p. He also added 14p to the cost of 20 cigarettes, confirmed we will have to pay for plastic bags, put up car-tax on gas guzzling cars, and increased the price of flights.

On the up-side he pledged £2 billion extra for troops, put the 2p-a-litre rise in petrol prices off until October and announced measures to tackle child poverty with a rise in child benefits.

The Chancellor, delivering his Budget, is the only person allowed to imbibe alcohol in the Chamber. Winston Churchill was a brandy man, Hugh Dalton drank milk and rum, Selwyn Lloyd necked whisky and water, and Hugh Gaitskell choose rum and orange. As for Alistair Darling’s personal preference…with alcohol his favourite word for the 2008 budget…it’s a tough choice.

Wacko Jacko headed for UK

MICHAEL Jackson’s family are set to move to Devon, it emerged last night.
The bizarre pop king’s older brother Tito spent the weekend looking at luxury homes in the region to use as a Jackson family UK base.
The multi-millionaire toured top homes and properties in Barnstaple with his long-time friend, martial arts empire owner and celebrity bodyguard Matt Fiddes.
Matt said Tito had made offers on two properties.
He said: “I’m over the moon that he is looking for a home near me in North Devon and that the Jacksons will be heading this way a lot more often. It’s definitely going to happen.” Tito spoke with Michael on the phone the other night and all the family are certain that this is the area where they want to find a UK family hideaway.
Tito, a judge on successful BBC1 show Just The Two Of Us, believes he can achieve more in the UK than in America.
He said: “I’ve got some good things going in the UK with TV work and book offers, you guys love the Jacksons music and I have great mates like David Gest and Matt who live here.”
“We hope it will be a family hideaway where my brothers and sisters can escape the media attention when we need to.”
He also revealed that Michael and family were recording in the studio again and were “ready for a comeback”.

V have Beeb in a full nelson

BEEB bosses can’t be too happy – ITV have scooped the contract to show Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday gig, we can reveal.
Normally the Beeb are the kings of the big live event, with Live 8 and the Concert For Diana under their belt.
But ITV will be screening the bash for the former South African president. which is being held at London’s Hyde Park.
TV insiders tell us that big gigs like this cost about £1.5million to produce, which means the cash-strapped Beeb may well have been priced out of the affair.
This year’s Glastonbury Festival coincides with Nelson’s birthday bash on June 27, and a Beeb source claimed they had not bid for the event.
He added: “We’re happy we have Glastonbury.”
But TV experts are baffled the BBC would not try for a unique gig packed with big-name stars. As revealed last week, Hollywood’s Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith will front the event, and soul legend Stevie Wonder is set to do a set. Organisers are even trying to tempt controversial rapper Eminem out of retirement. Brit acts Razorlight and Keane have signed up to join Queen and Annie Lennox on the bill, while U2, the Spice Girls and Paul McCartney have all been asked to play.
Former US president Bill Clinton, his wife Hillary, and Tony Blair are also expected to attend.
The event is being set up by the team behind Nelson’s campaign against Aids after he chose London for his 90th party.
The 45,000 tickets for the show will be sold using a Glastonbury-style online registration system.

7 deadly sins for the Vatican

The Vatican have produced a new list of seven deadly sins providing a modern day addition to the original 6th century sins as stated by Pope Gregory the Great.

Joining pride, envy, gluttony, lust, anger, greed and sloth are: Drug abuse, genetic manipulation, morally debatable experiments, environmental pollution, social inequalities and social injustice, causing poverty, and accumulating excessive wealth. The vices, published in Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano and backed by Pope Benedict XVI act as a guide for priests tasked with fighting “new sins on the horizon of humanity.”

Addicts who steal to feed habit could escape prison

Thieves who steal to feed an addiction to drugs, drink or gambling could avoid jail under new sentencing guidelines published yesterday.

Under the guidelines, the starting point punishment for criminals who steal from the vulnerable would be 18 weeks jail. But if there were mitigating circumstances a community order could be imposed instead, the Sentencing Guidelines Council suggested. Such cases could include offenders who steal to feed a drugs, alcohol or gambling addiction, or who are ‘motivated by desperation or need’, it said.

The rules are now out for consultation. They are likely to be sent to courts by the end of the year.

Kids’ Oath To Serve the Queen

Schoolkids will be asked to swear an oath of loyalty to the Queen under new citizenship plans.

They will be expected to promise to obey the law in ceremonies like those for new immigrants. Former attorney-general Lord Goldsmith, heading a review of citizenship, wants kids to be more proud of Britain. A source close to the review, order by Gordon Brown, says it will help create a “shared sense of belonging.”

The oath of allegiance reflects a US tradition of pupils making a pledge while standing to attention before the flag with their right hand over their heart. The oath is not compulsory but it is common practice in many American schools.

Lord Goldsmith’s plan follows a study showing many children are made to feel ashamed of their roots by politically incorrect teachers.

Like most people his age he spends most of the day in front of a computer screen. But Mark Zuckerberg is no ordinary 23-year-old – he's officially the world's youngest US billionaire. US investor and philanthropist Warren Buffett now sits proudly at the top of the league with £31billion – up from £26billion. The 77-year-old, from Nebraska, is chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway – a holding company which specialises in insurance.

Winehouse is a cover girl

GUESTS at the opening of posh fashion house Fendi’s new flagship Paris store were probably expecting handbags — but not handbags at dawn. It seems everywhere AMY WINEHOUSE goes, trouble follows.

She had attempted to cover the lump with loads of make-up but told the well-heeled guests it was “so big I can see it out of my eye. Do you get mumps in France?”
The event ended in an almighty scrap among some of the guests as they jockeyed for position to hear her sing.
A source at Paris Fashion Week said: “It was a complete fiasco. It got nasty and people were breaking bottles. Organisers had to lock the crowd in without any drinks while she performed.”
