Facebook founder one of world’s richest

Like most people his age he spends most of the day in front of a computer screen. But Mark Zuckerberg is no ordinary 23-year-old – he's officially the world's youngest US billionaire. You might not recognise his name but there is a good chance he has revolutionised how you keep in touch with friends – old and new. Mr Zuckerberg created social networking site Facebook because he wanted to stay in touch with mates he made at Harvard – but it has made him $1.5billion (£755million).
He is so rich he has been named Forbes magazine's 785th wealthiest person in the world. But his vast pile of cash is dwarfed by the riches at the top end of the table – and there has been a change in pole position. After 13 years as the world's richest man, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates has slipped to third place with a fortune of £29billion – despite a £1billion increase in his fortune in the past year. US investor and philanthropist Warren Buffett now sits proudly at the top of the league with £31billion – up from £26billion. The 77-year-old, from Nebraska, is chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway – a holding company which specialises in insurance.

Patrick Swayze 'optimistic' over cancer fight

Patrick Swayze is remaining optimisitic, despite being diagnosed with a highly aggressive form of cancer, according to his doctor. The actor's physician dismissed intense media speculation that he just had five weeks to live. 'Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far,' Dr George Fisher said. 'All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.' He added that Swayze is still busy working: 'Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects.'
The Dirty Dancing star was reported by US magazine National Enquirer as being on the brink of death after being confirmed with pancreatic cancer at the end of January. It reported that the disease had spread to other organs but in a bid to fight on the 55-year-old has been flying himself for 'radical' chemotherapy at a cancer unit in Palo Alto, California.
