Ledger’s bar to open as tribute

Big thanks to Ben ‘I’m gossip gay and everyone knows it’ Anderson for holding the blog-fort over the past few days…here goes your news in brief for today.

Friends and family of Heath Ledger are to open a New York bar as a tribute to the Batman star.

The launch of Brightside in Brooklyn – which Heath named and which he was in as a partner – is going to go ahead after his father donated the money to finish the project.

As well as providing a place to remember Heath it will include personal touches designed by the actor, including an engraved chess table (he was a big chess fan).

In other news…
* Sting’s wife Trudie Styler had a lucky escape at Manhattan Club The Box, after a performer fell in her lap. The overweight actor – complete with blonde wig and nipple tassles – tumbled from a chandelier and landed on her lap. Ouch.
* Pete Doherty made a bit of a mess up the other night in a gig in Liverpool, after deciding to impress the crowd with a rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’ Gutting for Pete the pub full of Everton fans weren’t too impressed at all with the singers choice, and threw their drinks at him to show their appreciation. Oops.
* Prince William is apparently desperate to get a tattoo – but is worried that Kate Middleton will think it’s too “chavvy.” Wills apparently told Navy pals that he wanted a tat similar to David Beckham but is worried Kate will hit the roof. Not sure the Queen and all the other old Royals will be that chuffed about it either Will.

RUMOUR MILL
- Madonna to postpone Saturday’s birthday bash?
- Kylie to appear on Corden’s new sketch comedy?
- Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevall to move in together? Don’t do it Paul….you’ve already lost £20 million…
