Amy and Pete star at EMAs

The Brits conquered the MTV Europe Music Awards last night with Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty on top form.

They produced the two stand-out performances at the bash in Munich, Germany, and it just goes to show how good they could be if they both steer clear of drugs.

Muse backed them up by bagging two top awards. Amy's appearance was the perfect example of both her genius and her frustrating desire to muck it all up.

She won an award, was booed for her lack of gratitude then silenced the crowd with a great performance of Back to Black.

When Amy tottered on stage to accept the Artists Choice award, muttered "Fanks" then wandered off she left most of the crowd scratching their heads.

The least she could have done was show a bit of appreciation to her fellow artists who had nominated her for the gong. She had a couple of wobbles but it was the best performance of the night.

Don't drive Dogg

Lewis Hamilton’s F1 bosses are well and truly in the Dogg house with the superstar driver.

The race ace, below, missed out on an amazing cameo with Snoop Dogg at the MTV Europe Music Awards last night.

And it was all because of his watertight contract with McLaren Mercedes.

Lewis was asked by hip-hop star Snoop to be his celeb chauffeur for the night as the show’s host he wanted the British motorsports hero to drive him onstage at Munich’s Olympiahalle in a sparkling Daimler limo.

But because Lewis is tied in legally with Mercedes he can’t be seen to drive anything other than their cars.

After losing out on his chauffeur role Lewis was instead invited to award Avril Lavigne with her gong for Most Addictive Track, for Girlfriend.

Place in the country for Pete
Pete Doherty is set to move into a new nine-bedroom country mansion.

The rocker has decided his current pad in Marlborough, Wilts, is not big enough for it to be the creative haven he wants for him and all his musical pals.

So his management team have found him another country pile in the same area.

The new house is a reward for Pete trying to clean up his act in recent months.

A source said: “Pete is enjoying having his base outside London. He wants a bigger place so musicians can visit from the Smoke and have plenty of room to create and relax.

Magic man wows stars

Magician Dynamo was the man all the stars wanted to meet at the EMA’s.

He landed the plum job of doing magic for the 40million TV audience around Europe between awards and he left stars and their entourages stunned by his skills.

Dynamo, from humble roots in Bradford, was called for an audience with Snoop.

He also befriended reggae star Shaggy who took him to meet Nelly Furtado to impress her with his tricks.
He swapped numbers with Shaggy and promised to keep in touch.

Napoleon Dynamite actor Jon Heder has also asked him to visit LA to put on a show for his pals.
