Hello Halo 3

Halo 3, one of the most anticipated and heavily marketed video games in history, has gone on sale at thousands of stores across the US, Australia and New Zealand.

More than 10,000 US shops opened their doors to sell the title which is Microsoft's key weapon in the console wars with Sony and Nintendo.

More than 15m copies of the first two titles in the series have been sold. Microsoft hopes day one sales of the game will top £70m ($140m). If the game does bring in more than $140m, it will earn more in 24 hours than the opening box office takings of any movie in history.

However, sceptics point out that video games cost upwards of £40 ($80), while cinema tickets are much less. In New York, about 500 people turned out for the midnight launch.

Another fine mess

The company that ran competitions for GMTV has been fined a record £250,000 after viewers lost an estimated £20m in phone-in quizzes.

Premium rate regulator Icstis has handed out the largest penalty in its 21-year history to Opera Telecom. For four years, the company selected potential winners before lines closed.

Some 18 million callers were charged when they had no chance of winning, Icstis said, with the average cost of each call put at more than £1.

The regulator described it as "the worst case which Icstis had come across in terms of the numbers of consumers affected and the amount of money at stake".

The scandal has already led to the resignations of two GMTV executives and contributed to a crisis of trust in TV in the UK.

Moss Cross
No wedding is complete without a good old-fashioned bust-up.

Kate Moss and Sienna Miller kept the tradition alive at a mutual pal’s reception with a foul-mouthed catfight — over scruff bag Rhys Ifans.

Kate has been pals with Rhys for years and has had the hump since Sienna pulled him — because he’s stopped getting hammered with the model.

Sienna arrived at the reception in London with Rhys, not long after Cocaine Kate, who was with new fella Jamie Hince and best pal Sadie Frost.

Evil glares were exchanged across the dancefloor as the tension mounted between the two camps. And after some serious alcohol lubrication it all kicked off.

A witness at Saturday’s bash told me: “Kate had a go at Sienna and accused her of stealing her style. She was ranting on about how Sienna was now trying to steal her lifestyle and her friends too."
